Vita (Europe) Ltd and Apilab in South America start working together for healthier bees

VitaApilabAt Apimondia 2015 in Daejeon, South Korea, two companies based in different hemispheres and with the common aim of promoting honeybee health have announced that they are joining forces to offer beekeepers a wider range of bee health treatments, feeds and products.

Vita (Europe) Ltd, the world’s largest dedicated honeybee health company, is teaming up with Apilab, veterinary beekeeping product manufacturer active across South and Central America. Through joint marketing each company’s products can be made more widely available and there are possibilities for joint research and development activities.

Jeremy Owen, a director at Vita (Europe) Ltd, said: “This gives Vita an excellent opportunity to expand into South and Central American markets where we do not yet have a presence and also to expand the range of honeybee health products we can make available to beekeepers across the world. Many products will require lengthy registration procedures of course, but we are hopeful that we can bring some of Apilab’s feeds, which have impressed us, to our existing markets more quickly.”

Dr Marcelo del Hoyo, manager and partner of Apilab, said: “Since meeting Vita personnel at Apimondia 2013 in Kiev, Ukraine, we have been investigating possibilities of working with them and I’m delighted to say that we have come to an agreement that we can now announce at Apimondia 2015. Our challenge together is to offer highest quality products developed exclusively for honeybee health and nutrition and to help beekeepers maintain healthier honeybees.”
